About this Event
While roughly 50% of children enrolled in U.S. public schools are White, almost 80% of teachers are White. Within higher education, 52% of undergraduates are White and 64% of post-baccalaureate students are White, while more than 75% of faculty are White. Overrepresentation of White students and teachers is even more pronounced in music departments and schools. In our December Music Education Colloquium, College of Music PhD alumni recommend strategies for improved recruitment, retention and outcomes among students of color within music education programs.
Foundational to the world-class performances at CU Boulder’s College of Music is a dedication to scholarship. Join us for discussions with CU faculty, students and guests in a range of topics that delve into the intricacy and history of global music.
