About this Event
1035 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80309
This year, Boulder Apple Tree Project volunteers will be focusing on locating and sampling trees from neighborhoods in North and South Boulder, and Longmont, as well as doing some land preparations at a new orchard site on Open Space in North Boulder. We will be matching teams of undergraduate students who will be taking a CU class that is using the apple trees to understand local ecological systems. Our goal is to have 1-2 community volunteers partnered with a group of 2-3 undergraduates to carry out these surveys. We will meet in the courtyard between the CU Museum of Natural History and the Shakespeare Festival Stage at 8 am for check-in, meeting your group, and quick tutorial on taking measurements. After field collections are complete, we will reconvene at the Museum of Natural History to return equipment, share experiences, and some autumn snacks. Folks are welcome to check out exhibits in the CU Museum of Natural History, including the Tree Space exhibit that debuted last year which highlights the work of undergraduate students with the BATP over the past 4 years. Please let us know if you will be joining us!*
