Snowshoeing at Rocky Mountain National Park

Hit the winter trails with ISSS and the CU Outdoor Program and explore Rocky Mountain National Park  during the winter on snowshoes! You will learn how to utilize snowshoes to navigate winter trails and learn some basic navigational skills. Participants must be able to carry a 20 pound (9 kilo) pack while hiking up to 5 miles over variable terrain consisting of ice and snow. Snow shoes, snow boots, gloves, waterproof jackets and pants can be provided Outdoor Program as needed for no additional charge.

Registration is required. You can register here. Tickets are $22 for transportation, snowshoes and outdoor clothing (if required).

Before the trip, you are required to attend a pre-trip meeting. This meeting will take place Thursday, Feb 13 from 6pm to 7pm, in the Outdoor Program Classroom at The Rec.  Important specifics of the trip, such as meeting place, tips for Snowshoeing, and appropriate gear will be discussed.

Logistics and Policies

  • Transportation: Provided by Outdoor Program and included with ticket
  • Required Equipment: *Snowshoes and winter clothing. These can be provided by the Outdoor Program and are included in the ticket.
  • Food: No food or meals provided

Course Refund Policy: The refund deadline is 7 days prior to the registration deadline. If you cancel prior to the stated refund deadline, you are entitled to a partial refund (minus deposit). If you cancel following the refund deadline, NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN. This refund policy still applies for emergency situations and for illness.

Inclement Weather Rescheduling Procedure: In the event that an activity is rescheduled due to inclement weather you may receive a full refund if you contact the Outdoor Program office (303-492-6080) by noon on the Wednesday following the original scheduled trip date. If you do not contact the Outdoor Program office by noon on Wednesday we assume that you are committed to participate in the rescheduled event and therefore forfeit your right to a refund. In the event that a course is canceled you will be given a full refund.

Course Transfers: Transfers are only possible in certain circumstances and before the refund deadline. For all transfers, come to the Outdoor Program office.
