After brief stints in both hedgefund management and a wearable tech startup, McIntosh found himself unemployed and looking for opportunity. Believing that a sustainable business model was just as important as a sustainability mission, Colin outlined his criteria for his "perfect business" – an eco-friendly, high-quality physical product in a massive industry with overpriced, outdated options mostly sold at brick and mortar retailers. And most importantly: it had to be something where everyone else in the industry was "boring as hell" so he could stand out from the crowd and "zig where everyone else was zagging."After materials research and manufacturing meetings, McIntosh discovered Eucalyptus lyocell, an incredibly soft, breathable, plant-based sustainable fabric that has several key eco-advantages over cotton sheets.

Now sporting nearly 2,000 reviews and a 4.8 star rating (4.5 on Amazon), S&G offers Eucalyptus lyocell sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, throw blankets, and will soon launch comforters and other plant-based home textile products in 2020.
