About this Event
Bre (all pronouns) grew up in the Denver area and has dedicated their career to connecting with youth and families across Colorado. Before founding Joy as Resistance in early 2020, Bre spent three years as KIPP Northeast Middle School's social worker.
There, they managed crisis intervention and response for students, and facilitated the school's Gender & Sexuality Alliance as well as professional development for staff on topics such as trauma-informed care, social justice, equity, and supporting queer students. Bre has also held roles facilitating restorative justice practices, teaching social-emotional skills to teens, and managing non-profit partnerships in community.
In their free time, you can find Bre dancing, making all forms of art a priority, or with their dog, David Bowie, on their lap. Bre centers joy, authenticity, and community in all they do.
Startups & Sandwiches brings seasoned entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and tech leaders together with the best sandwiches the city of Boulder has to offer. A recurring series hosted by the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship in Leeds, each Startups & Sandwiches event provides up to 30 students with a unique opportunity to meet and network with executives and founders alike, and participate in a presentation, challenge, or discussion facilitated by our guest.
Each guest brings their own flavor to their session, and no two lunches are alike. Glimpse into the startup ecosystem—and try the Deming Team’s favorite local sandwich shops.
Seats are limited and open to any student on campus, so be sure to RSVP quickly and let us know if you can’t attend so we can open your seat to someone else!
