Heliamphora is a genus of carnivorous pitcher plants endemic to the Guiana Highlands. With 24 described and several yet-to-be-described species, Heliamphora represents the second most diverse but least understood pitcher plant genus. Many questions regarding the biogeographical, ecological, morphological, and molecular evolution of Heliamphora remain unclear. In light of this knowledge gap, my PhD thesis research, completed at CU Boulder, focused on the diversification of Heliamphora and aimed to provide evidence of both convergent and divergent evolution in plant carnivory across biological scales.
