Join us for the 2023 Research Computing Summer Camp! This five-day workshop is intended to give attendees a comprehensive overview of Research Computing - complete with with tips, tricks, and examples of computing beyond the desktop!

Each day will cover a different aspect of Research Computing, ensuring that users are familiar with the broad array of available services. A breakdown of each day is as follows:

Day 1: General Info

  • Getting familiar with Research Computing
  • Data management and storage using the PetaLibrary
  • Introduction to working in the cloud via CUmulus
  • Secure research with the Preserve
  • How to ask for help

Day 2: Introduction to High Performance Computing

  • Working with Linux
  • Transferring your data
  • Finding, downloading, and applying software on CURC
  • Submitting jobs
  • Troubleshooting and analyzing with XDMOD

Day 3: Intermediate High Performance Computing

  • Accelerating your workflows with GPUs
  • Maximizing efficiency with parallel programming
  • Scaling and profiling your workflows

Day 4: Using the Cloud and Maximizing Portability

  • Getting familiar with containers
  • Using Git to share and improve your work
  • Integrating your workflows with CUmulus
  • An introduction to Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Day 5: Optional Q&A and Specific Application

  • General Q&A Session
  • Applying Research Computing to your specific needs
  • Ghost stories and passing wisdom

Space is limited, so those wishing to participate will have to apply to attend. Applications will be accepted until May 4, and final participants will be notified by May 12.
