DESCRIPTION:Join the CU Boulder Symphonic Band for our last concert of the
fall semester. This concert will include works by Amanda Aldridge\, Viet C
uong (composer in residence) and Frank Ticheli\, as well as a new trombone
concerto by James David performed by the College of Music's own Assistant
Professor of Trombone Sterling Tanner.\n\nSymphonic Band musicians are se
lected by audition from the finest performers on campus. Although most mem
bers are music majors\, students studying in other fields often qualify fo
r this ensemble. Since its formation over 50 years ago\, the CU Boulder Sy
mphonic Band has performed at major national conventions\, including the M
usic Educators National Conference and the College Band Directors National
Association. Concerts presented both in Colorado and out of state have wo
n the acclaim of band directors and composers for the interpretive perform
ance of outstanding works for the symphonic band medium.\n\nFrom orchestra
s\, bands and choirs to jazz\, world music and opera to world-class facult
y and guest performances\, the CU Boulder College of Music brings hundreds
of stunning performances to Boulder audiences throughout the academic yea
 r.\n\nFor complete information visit cupresents.org.
