Biography
June Gruber is a Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Colorado where she is the Director of the Positive Emotion and Psychopathology Laboratory. Dr. Gruber received her B.A. in psychology and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of California Berkeley and was faculty previously at Yale University as where she received the Arthur Greer Memorial Award for Outstanding Junior Faculty. She has published over 140 articles and chapters and has edited 2 books on emotion and psychological disorders in adolescents and adults. Dr. Gruber’s work has been recognized by several awards including the Association for Psychological Science (APS)’s Rising Star Award, the APS Janet Taylor Spence Award for Transformative Early Career Contributions, and the Society for Research in Psychopathology's Early Career Award. Dr. Gruber has co-led a field-wide call to action on the mental health crisis, written about the mental health of students in Science Careers, and launched a free online Coursera course titled #talkmentalillness to engage a global call to action on mental health challenges facing society. Her teaching has been recognized by the President’s Teaching Scholar Program, Cogswell Award for Inspirational Instruction, Boulder Faculty Assembly Excellence Award in Teaching & Pedagogy, and the UROP Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award. Dr. Gruber is also the co-author of the 14th edition of Psychology and recently launched a Science of Happiness course at CU Boulder.
