About this Event
Pui Fong Kan, associate professor of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences leads this speaking engagement that explores the benefits of bilingualism, specifically the advantages of learning a home language.
Many bilingual individuals in the U.S. learn a home language (also known as a "minority language") at home (e.g., Spanish) and use English in school settings. Maintaining a home language can have numerous benefits, such as facilitating English learning, improving academic performance, fostering identity and enhancing overall well-being.
This event is sponsored by the Office for Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in the College of Arts & Sciences.
