Founded by the University of Queensland in 2008, the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is an academic competition that cultivates students’ presentation and science communication skills. The competition challenges them to describe their research within three minutes to a general audience. The competition at CU Boulder will be virtual this year and is open to all doctoral candidates who have passed their comprehensive exams before November 2020.

Attend this Welcome Orientation for tips and tricks to a successful presentation and a full explanation of the rules. We will also review the workshop schedule, which will be individualized and hands-on workshops to refine your public speaking skills, including "Telling the Story of Your Research" and "Improv Techniques for Science Communication." We will also review the semi-finals, and final competition guidelines.
