DESCRIPTION:Would you like to be able to move\, share or publish your softw
are without worrying whether it will work properly on other computers? Cont
ainerization is an OS-level virtualization method used to deploy and run di
stributed applications without launching an entire virtual machine for each
app. Containers are "stand-alone"\, enabling workflows to be easily packag
ed and shared across platforms\, enhancing reproducibility and portability.
This hands-on tutorial by CU Research Computing staff will provide an intr
oduction to containers and the basics of building and running containers wi
th Docker (Part 1 of the workshop) and Singularity (Part 2 of the workshop)
. Singularity is containerization software used on high performance computi
ng platforms where users do not have escalated privileges. Users may take e
ither or both parts of the workshop depending on whether their interest is
 Docker\, Singularity\, or both.
