About this Event
In this workshop, participants will gain insight into the challenges that trans, gender nonconforming, and non-binary faculty, staff, and students face at higher-ed institutions in the State of Colorado. In the current context, where trans rights, reproductive rights, and affirmative action are being systematically dismantled, it is imperative that we approach these challenges with an intersectional lens. This workshop aims to generate strategies on how to design policies, strengthen allyship, and build capacity, for a more equitable and gender-just environment in higher education.
This workshop will be led by Dr. Rushaan Kumar, Assistant Professor of Feminist & Gender Studies at Colorado College. He is the founding director of the Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ Oral History Project, and a Senior Fellow at the Center for Applied Transgender Studies.
This is sponsored by the Office for Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in the College of Arts & Sciences.
