Uniting to Prevent School Violence
In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings, this CU Anschutz event will explore what we have learned about preventing school violence since the Columbine tragedy, what questions remain and—perhaps most importantly—what is preventing us from implementing what we have learned to end these tragedies?
Designed for scientists, school leaders, public health professionals, community members, public safety professionals and decision-makers, this symposium will provide knowledge and tools to help us work together to advance violence prevention using a public health approach.
Featured speakers include Governor Jared Polis, Attorney General Philip Weiser, Dean of Drew Medical School Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith and Founding Director of Prevention Institute Larry Cohen. CU Boulder's Beverly Kingston, director of the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence, also will speak. Student presentations will be given, as well.
Discounted student tickets are available for purchase. Lunch is included.
