Graduate students face unique challenges when it comes to balancing multiple projects in addition to research, publishing, and teaching obligations.  The dissertation process can be particularly isolating. This accountability seminar helps graduate students working on their dissertations to set goals, manage their time efficiently, and maintain good writing habits, while fostering relationships with peers across disciplines. The goal of the seminars is to improve work efficiency and productivity while keeping each other accountable on dissertation writing goals.

For the first 30 minutes of the workshop, we review skills and tools for time management and productivity. The second half of the hour is devoted to accountability, where each participant reports on their progress and goals for the week (e.g., “This week I’m going to finish the outline for Chapter 3.”)

Participants attend one seminar every week. Consistent attendance is crucial for accountability because you have to show up and report to your peers how your dissertation progress looks. The goal is to create a consistent group that meets weekly, rather than irregular drop-in workshops.

We welcome new members. You can join in the middle of a sequence, but prefer that you make a commitment to attending each week. We encourage you to RSVP on this Google form before attending your first one.

***Seminar is cancelled on Monday, October 7th.

***Please note the schedule change for Monday, December 9th when we will be meeting in UMC 417 instead of our normal room of UMC 425.
