Whether you’re choosing a major, exploring career paths or looking for inspiration, join us for CUnique Stories, a live storytelling and dialogue experience. During the event, you’ll engage with members of the CU community to hear their stories of finding fulfillment in their lives. We invite you to come hear about a wide range of life experiences and pathways towards finding one’s calling.

Inspired by the Human Library and StoryCorps, CUnique stories is a part of the Buffs One Read and inspired by this year’s book, Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work.

About Buffs One Read

Topics will include creating a simple repository and basic Git commands. Using our created repository, we will then cover important collaborative concepts, such as forking and making pull requests.

For this course, we will assume that you have a basic understanding of version control and have been introduced to Git and GitHub. There is no need to be fluent in Git or GitHub.

This course is intended to be highly interactive. In order to participate, please be sure that you have a GitHub account, a working version of Git installed, and either a Personal Access Token or SSH keys set up to authenticate your GitHub account in advance. If you need assistance with this, please attend CRDDS consult hours in advance of the session.

* What is a Short Course? A Short Course is a training that provides an in-depth understanding of a concept, system, or tool. You can expect to leave a "Short Course" with a solid grasp of the topic.

Attendees will consider the whole data lifecycle from research planning to presentation. When is it appropriate to collect information about gender and how does one do so as respectfully as possible? When analyzing the data, how do we retain the human beings behind the metrics? How does the audience for a presentation change what we ought to share?

This session is part two of a two part series. It is not necessary to have attended the first session. The second session will begin with the section on analyzing data.

But how often have you thought about metadata management, daily notes, personal wikis, databases, inquiry logs, search query logs, or knowledge management practices in general? In this two part series, we will explore your knowledge management options, introduce a framework for building your practices, and learn about a dedicated platform--Obsidian--that unifies your approach.

In the first session, we will identify your personal goals, design a management strategy for your needs, and plan the easiest way to get started with your new knowledge management habit. In the second session two weeks later, we will reflect on your progress, course correct as needed, and further deepen your practice. Sessions are a combination of lecture and discussion.

*This is the first workshop in a two part series. It is recommended that participants sign up for both sessions.

This (not always true) observation has been made by both Jews and non-Jews for three thousand years. Over time, the pig becomes a popular metaphor for Jewish/non-Jewish identity. This talk explores this historical development. Starting in the Hebrew Bible, where the pig is tabooed but not necessarily singled out more than other food prohibitions, we see the emergence of the pig as a symbol of Jewish identity in the Second Temple period and beyond. From ancient Canaan to modern Colorado, and all points in between, we follow the pig as it forages through Jewish history.

This is a powerful opportunity to learn how trans identities and experiences are unique to each individual and the breadth of experiences.

From corporate ESG efforts and greenhouse gas accounting to the nuances of incorporating community resilience and environmental justice into sustainability programs, measuring sustainability is challenging. Measurement, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MMRV) serves as the essential framework for ensuring sustainability-focused actions are delivering desired outcomes. CU Boulder is home to a breadth of expertise across these domains, yet our work often remains specialized within academic units or not yet meeting its potential to connect MMRV of governments, corporations, or other relevant programs. To tackle complex and interconnected sustainability challenges, we must bridge our efforts. This workshop will focus on bridging across disciplines and academic units to connect MMRV-relevant research and increase its impact.

Where: The Center for Global British & Irish Studies Room (CGBIS Room)

When: April 3, 2026 9am-3pm

Breakfast and lunch provided

Workshop Objectives:

Knowledge Exchange & Mapping: Discover the breadth of MMRV-related work happening across CU Boulder and with external partners. Through a series of flash talks and keynote presentations, we will map our collective expertise in physical monitoring, data verification, ethical reporting, and community centered impact.Strategic Networking: Dedicated networking activities are designed to break down departmental silos and connect researchers to seed transdisciplinary partnerships.Collaborative Funding & Project Seeding: Move from conversation to action. During the afternoon session, participants will divide into groups and begin working on specific external funding opportunities related to MMRV.

In the workshop, our goal is to better understand CU’s MMRV research capabilities across engineered and nature-based implementation contexts and maximize interactions among researchers. With that in mind, we will ask participating researchers to prepare short 3-min [1 slide] lightning talks highlighting their MMRV capabilities or tools they use in their research that can be leveraged for MMRV applications. If you are interested in joining us for this workshop, please RSVP so we can plan appropriately. We will reach out with additional information, a link to upload your lightening talks, and a final agenda.

We encourage you to forward this invite to other researchers at CU Boulder whose work is relevant or who may be interested in these topics. We look forward to meeting you and learning more about your work!

*This is the second session in a two part series. It is recommended that participants attend the first session as well.
