In a world of one-click purchases, subscription creep, and algorithmically targeted ads, spending has never been easier - or more unconscious. This workshop helps CU faculty and staff take back control of their financial choices by examining the psychology behind modern spending and replacing reactive habits with intentional ones.

Participants will explore:

How digital environments are designed to trigger spending - and how to recognize those triggers

The difference between values-based spending and impulse-driven spending

Practical tools for building a spending plan that reflects your actual priorities

How to make financial decisions with confidence rather than guilt or anxiety

This session is interactive and reflective, designed to meet participants where they are - whether they feel in control of their finances or are just beginning to take a closer look. Participants will leave with a clear framework and actionable next steps they can apply immediately.

Kickstart your CU Boulder teaching career with insider tips that seasoned colleagues wish they’d learned on day one. In this session, you’ll receive pragmatic, hands-on guidance so that you can avoid common mistakes and excel in your new role. Through informal discussion, our panelists will explain some of the challenges they faced their first years at CU and offer a few memorable suggestions from which participants might benefit from as they acclimate to their new positions. These sessions are not recorded to create a comfortable environment for open, candid discussions and engagement.
